Anna Julow - Final Project: Doors

There is so much symbolism in doors. Doors can protect us, yet they can also represent the unknown. They are passages; crossing that threshold takes us from one place to another. Doors can represent opportunities. There are doors around us everyday, we just have to choose which ones to open.

Whitney Tarble- Final Photographs

I originally started taking pictures of Barbies and realized how different Barbies and women are. So I thought it would be interesting to compare the two. It's interesting to see how different the proportions really are.

Shivani Seth- Final Project

For this assignment, I choose to tackle the idea of clutter. We see clutter and too much stuff as a negative thing in today's society, something that has to be cleaned or organized or put together in a way that is somehow better. What all these pictures have in common is a randomness, a sense of fullness and an incredible variety of shapes, colors, and ideas flowing through all of them. I feel like this is a representation of life in a way, a way of showing the chaos of modern life through modern stuff as well as the beauty of juxtaposition.

Sarah Briggs - Final Project: Rebuilding the Wall

Rebuilding the Wall is an organization in Indianapolis whose mission is to "stabilize and empower low-income families by renovating vacant inner city properties and giving the families opportunity for homeownership; We combat social injustice by building relationships across racial and socio-economic barriers; We stabilize community by the recycling of assets within the neighborhood." (rebuildingthewall.org)

I think these pictures conceptualize service, loving your neighbor as yourself, and the fight for social justice.

Elizabeth Stoner- Final Project: Opposites

The overall theme of this project is the idea of opposites. Each photograph in this assignment incorporates a broad idea of what we would consider to be an opposite and relates it to different concepts in the realms of cooking and food. For example, one of the most common opposites we see is the idea of black and white. In cooking, pepper and salt are clear depictions of this generalized opposite. Each split in this assignment represents a common opposite brought together by the more specific themes of cooking and food.

Ashley Cofield - Final Project: Texture

The final project was a chance for me to finally incorporate my primary major of Communication Disorders with photography. A large portion of our major is focused on therapy techniques. These twelve pictures could be used for matching, description, or categorization (to name a few ways). Specific speech sounds could be the focus using any of these methods. An example of a speech sound that is often the focus of our therapy is blends ("sm"ooth - "sk"in - "sl"ide - "bl"ade - "tr"ee - "sc"arf).
